Product description

The legendary 1200/1210MK2 turntables were discontinued by the company, but due to the high community demand, this updated version was released after a few years.
The device has a clean and elegant design that fits today's fashion and has also been significantly renewed technically.

The iconic Technics SL-1200G was considered the best choice by generations of disc enthusiasts. They appreciated not only its sound quality, but also its flexibility and robustness.
This legendary turntable will come to life again in the SL-1200GR (silver) and SL-1210GR (black) models available from May 2017.
As customers have become accustomed to from Technics, the SL-1200GR and SL-1210GR make no compromises in sound quality.
At the same time, these new models have all the features that made their legendary predecessor so popular among DJs: durability, impact resistance, reliable direct drive, adjustable rotational speed.
The latest models are characterised by new materials and a completely new technical design.
“The SL-1200GR and SL-1210GR combine the best of both worlds,” said Michiko Ogawa, Brand Director Panasonic Technics.
“We are confident that both models will meet the expectations of Technics enthusiasts around the world.
Our goal was to expand our range of high-quality products for music fans and professional DJs ″.
Launched in 2016, the SL-1200G combines Technics' traditional analog technology with advanced digital solutions. Its outstanding performance has literally shaken the hi-fi market and overridden the references of direct drive turntables.
During the creation of the SL-1200GR and SL-1210GR models, parts of the SL-1200G were rethought, including the coreless direct drive motor and precision motor control technology, as well as the sturdy plate and sensitive sound arm.
This ensures that using the SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR, audio enthusiasts can enjoy analog recordings in a rich, robust sound.
Coreless direct drive motor for stable rotation:
Unlike belt drive and other systems, direct drive systems rotate the motor slowly and drive the plate directly.
This concept offers a number of benefits.
For example, thanks to the vibration of the motor and the deceleration mechanism, the distortion caused by the signal-to-noise ratio is almost eliminated and long-term reliability is increased, as the device does not require the replacement of parts.
In 2016, Technics developed a twin rotor, machined surface, coreless direct drive motor with rotating magnets on both sides, eliminating engine speed irregularities, “gearing,” which was a unique problem for direct drive systems.
This engine was used for the SL-1200G, which significantly reformed the hi-fi market.
The SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR inherited the same design philosophy with the development of a single rotor, machined surface, coreless direct drive motor that eliminated dentition.
The SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR speed control, which checks and improves the precision of the engine, uses the latest engine control technology.
These were developed during the creation of Blu-ray devices and have already been used in the SL-1200G.
In addition, a separate circuit ensures the maximum performance of the newly developed motor of the SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR.
Plate - sturdy and anti-vibration:
The robustness and vibration damping of the plate is guaranteed by the double-layer structure, and the back of the device is made of fully cast aluminum and has a rubber damping on the back.
In the absence of this, the excess vibration would spread to the plate , but the system eliminates all this, creating a clear sound.
The shape of the die-cast aluminium body has been perfected by simulation to increase inertial mass and reduce vibration.
At 2.5kg (including rubber sheet), the SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR plate is 0.8kg heavier than the previous SL-1200MK5 plate.
The black surface of the plate is equipped with reinforcing ribs to improve its stiffness.
They increased the contact surface with rubber damper to achieve more than twice as good a damping effect as the SL-1200MK5.
Motion-sensitive play lever:
The play lever follows the rotation of the disc and allows high-precision playback.
Technics also uses the proven, traditionally used static-balanced universal S-shaped joystick in these models, equipped with a pipe, made of lightweight and sturdy material.
Precision bearing was also used for the SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR play arm by installing a gimbal suspension, which is already common for the SL-1200G.
Movement sensitivity of 5 milligrams or less was achieved by manual assembly and manual adjustment by Japanese specialists.
This allows perfect tracking of the grooves of the plates.
Below the play arm, you'll find gold-plated connectors that allow you to connect multiple types of cables.
The internal metal coating of the structure reduces the effect of external noises.
Massive body and dampening silicone insulation for beautiful sound and to filter out different vibrations:
The solidity of the SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR is ensured by a two-layer body that firmly holds THE housing made of BMC plastic (Bulk Moulding Compound) and die-cast aluminum.
For the insulation covering the house, SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR, like SL-1200G, used special silicone rubber, which ensures vibration damping and long-term reliability.
Vertical vibration is absorbed by reinforcement solved by cylindrical tubes with microcell polymers.
Retaining the technology of the SL-1200G, the insulators have been modified specifically for the properties of the SL-1200GR/SL-1210GR.
