In 1970, Technics revolutionized the turntable industry with the world's first direct drive system. Unlike conventional belt drive systems, our direct drive system minimizes motor resonance, providing exceptional signal-to-noise ratio and long-term reliability without the need for frequent parts replacement. Previous models, however, were plagued by "cogging" problems due to iron cores, which affected the regularity of rotation. The SL-1200GR2 has a non-ferrous single rotor/single stator motor that eliminates cogging and maximizes rotation uniformity. Experience outstanding performance and enhanced durability with state-of-the-art technology from Technics.
With ΔΣ-Drive, a state-of-the-art system that leverages Technics' expertise in PWM signal processing, you can enjoy a more accurate audio experience than ever before. In addition to reducing synchronization, the new drive dampens the vibrations of the motor for smoother, more accurate rotation, so it more accurately reproduces every tiny twitch of the music.
With the help of the high-speed switching power supply, we guarantee continuous stable performance with minimal fluctuation and humming. The intelligent use of the switching power supply not only eliminated the need for a large transformer, but also made additional measures to counteract mechanical vibrations redundant. In addition, operation at a switching frequency above 100 kHz ensures that any noise is damped, preserving the full bandwidth of music playback for an uninterrupted and unsurpassed music listening experience.
In our innovative system, a precise noise amplifier works in conjunction with a high-performance noise sensor. Not only does it detect residual noise in the power supply, it goes one step further by using inverse phase current to eliminate interfering noise components. The result? A power supply that outperforms traditional controllers, providing an ideal and clean environment for the sounds you want to play, without low-frequency noises.
The tone arm, which is a key element of punctual playback, follows the rotation of the disc. It uses a lightweight, rigid aluminum tube inherited from Technics in the traditional, static-balanced universal S-shape. With its cardan suspension and high-precision bearing assembled by skilled craftsmen, it is capable of an initial motion sensitivity of 5 mg or less. This meticulous construction ensures accurate tracking of sheet grooves. It also includes an additional weight that provides flexibility for different types of pickups.
The advanced design of our plate plate ensures excellent sound quality with a combination of a two-layer construction and strategically placed damping rubber. This effectively eliminates unwanted resonance, providing a clear and immersive sound experience. With the help of simulation optimization, the aluminum injection molding part has been further developed to increase inertial mass and minimize vibration, resulting in better overall performance. The rear reinforcement ribs further increase the stiffness. Compared to the SL-1200MK5, our platter boasts more than twice as effective damping properties, providing an unrivalled audio experience.
The SL-1200GR2's frame has a two-layer construction for high rigidity, combining THE advantages of BMC and die-cast aluminium.
The PHONO connectors of the detachable cables of the turntable are gold-plated, and the enclosure reduces the effect of external noise with a shielding metal structure.
Like the SL-1200GR2, the frame insulation is made of special silicone rubber, which provides both excellent vibration damping and long-term reliability.
